Post installation

Hi. My main challenge to get going are the following. If you all can offer your feedback, I can be off and running!

1. What's the best theme to use if I want to have a custom graphic for the header? I see fixed width ones and unfixed. Have we finally surpassed the 800x600 min res, or should i design to that? I'd just like to have a graphic fixed across the top, above the 3 column layout.

2. Anyone know of a way to build in a module or something that allows users to join a "group" on my site...like yahoo has?

I do something bad, im doing a site custome with taxonomy theme module, and i actived pathauto and a blank page appear, actually all site is blank right know. how can i return to the module selection pathauto before is actived? i dont have any admin interface to do it, so i dont know if i can do directly in database.

i delete the pathauto.module but dont work

When I look at my front page with commenting enabled for the recent nodes, I only have an "Add new comment" link at the bottom and no "View comments" or "Comments (#)" link. I believe in Drupal 4.6 I saw this. An example of a site that has this is http://gizmodo.com/

I have about 200 hundred users in an Excel-sheet that I need to add as users to my Drupal site. Some of the stuff in the columns go into user profile items. I don't want to insert these users manually.

Here are some of the ideas I have come up with so far (haven't implemented none yet)

I have a block on my site that uses arguments to display popular content for the currently viewed taxonomy term. so if you are viewing "section2" the block only shows content associated with "section2" and so on..it does this by taking the term out of the URL as an argument (ex: www.site.com/section/Section2/popular)

I am so very sorry about this post, I've searched the forums, with no results, maybe I'm seraching wrong.
here's the thing:
I installed drupal last nite. Been trying it for about 3 hours now. Totally love it, although haven't done almost anything!
My problem is I've put the archives calendar in the left side bar, (tried it in the right one too) and the border around it just floats to the left. It's just one pixel to the left, but it ain't right.
I am using a modified version of amadou theme, changed the column position etc.
