I swear I've been searching. Do I need to upgrade from 6.2 (which is the version I am currently using) to 6.3 and then from 6.3 to 6.4 or may I just skip 6.3 and go directly from 6.2 to 6.4? Thanks for your time.
Just wondering if anyone's upgraded to 6.4 yet...I am going to, but wanted to know if there's been problems.
I'm a newbie, and it was a bit of a hassle simply installing 6.3 in the first place (I knew practically nothing about servers, and nothing at all about databases), but now I have to upgrade and the "upgrade.txt" instructions have me a little puzzled: am I supposed to disable all the modules I can disable? The instructions say to disable all custom modules and contribs...does that mean every module which can be unchecked (disabled), or only non-core modules??
I've been using Drupal 5.x for about a year and a half. I publish a webcomic (http://ubersoft.net) and most of my contact makes heavy use of CCK. My comic nodes are completely dependent on CCK and CCK Imagefield.
My problem: I want to upgrade to Drupal 6. To that end, I did the following:
Here's a list of files changed by the latest Drupal upgrades. We use this so we don't have to replace the entire Drupal installation, as usually only a few specific files have actually changed.
When I upgraded my site to 5.10 from 5.9, I get a message that says "Unsupported Database Type". With 5.9, I can use either mysql or mysqli without complaint, but neither seems to work with 5.10.
My mysql version shows up as 5.0.27
A strange corollary problem is that this happens to the site run out of sites/default, but not the one run from sites/xxx.yy
I have a drupal site that is currently sitting way back at 5.1. I am wondering if the best practice to update the site is first to take it up to say 5.9 or jump straight in to 6.3 (or 6.4 which I notice is just out today).
I had a go at an upgrade on my test site to 5.9 which worked fine (other than a very common problem with image module that I found a fix for)
what is generally considered the best way to go about an upgrade, do you need to do all the point upgrades first - is this a less error prone way of doing things?
