Wrong module version shown after module upgrade

Hi,
I hope this isn't a total newbie question.
I have a drupal 6.4 installation. When I upgrade modules, their version number on the admin/build/modules page doesn't change. Admin/reports/updates also keep telling me to update.

E.g. I had Image 6.x-1.0-alpha2, which I now replaced with 6.x-1.0-alpha3. It still shows alpha2 in the module list.

Is there anything I have to do pre- or post-upgrade to avoid\fix this?

Right now I only remove the old module files, put the new ones, and run update.php.

Thanks!

notice: Undefined index: and lions, tigers and bears oh my

I upgraded from 5.10 with only cck, locations, view, pathauto and token modules all up to date. I installed 6 Dev Sept 17 and these listed modules staying current with every new dev, fixed the location cache table that was giving undefined column errors, sacrificed a chicken and said a chant.

In every module I install I get a list of "notice: Undefined index:" errors mainly after submitting or saving a change. I tried the cck fieldgroup tab module but that gave index errors when trying to view the page. I was getting the errors in views but soon as I clicked clear views cache the errors went away. I clicked to remove site cache but it didn't help (not using site cache anyways). If don't use hidden fields in cck those errors go away. I am using the modules in their basic way, no added php, no node references, just plain text in the fields or plain check and radio boxes.

Do I really have to disable modules to Update the core (e.g. 5.7-> 5.10). Why technically ?

Hi all !

To update the Drupal-Core (e.g. 5.7-> 5.10 ) it is prescribed (in the handbooks and so) to disable all modules. Now, I have a lot of them and it would be some hours work to note all of the enabled down, disable them and afterwards enable them again. Question : What is the risk, if I don't disable them.

Technically : What can go wrong ?

ical feed settings from admin/settings/calendar there is no calendar link

i have upgraded drupal from 5.10 to 6.4. i have upgraded calendar module also. i used i cal feed settings in drupal 5.10. but when i upgraded i cant see i cal tab after enabling calendar view.

i searched in forum and found that the settings page has been changed to admin/settings/calendar but i cant see the calendar link in settings page of drupal admin.

i enabled calendar i cal module after reading some posts in forum even though my problem doesn't solved. all i need is where should i configure i cal fee.

if you need any more info please let me know.

upgrade advice

Hi there:

I am currently setting up a website that relies heavily on the gmap, location and comment upload modules. After extensive research, I figured out that all these (and then some) modules were available in Drupal 5 but not yet ported to Drupal 6. The webserver host that I have uses Fantastico to help install Drupal. The problem is the fantastico currently installs Drupal 6.2 only. On talking with the hosting company, they have said that if I uploaded D5 manually, then I have to absorb all the problems that might arise from that, and they will not help me.

Also, if I do install D5 + modules and have my site up and running, do I have to upgrade to D6? I find it a bit frustrating, that while the core is very advanced (almost D7), its hard to get an idea when the modules will be ported in order to plan accordingly. (Before all you developers jump on me, I am just writing my side of the story, I totally understand that you are all volunteers, doing this in your spare time, and believe me, I think the job you all are doing is FANTASTIC!). However, I have been playing around for more than a month, and I am getting to the point where I can't figure out what to do. Do I use the fantastico + D6 and wait with uncertainity, or do I manually install D5 + modules and then stop there.
