Stuck on Home page after system restore

Hi,

Hope this is the right place to post...

I just restored my Drupal, MySQL, PHP 'n all after a system crash, and although I can access the database from phpMyAdmin, and can see the home page from accessing the site url, I cannot get past the home page (it just keeps reloading) and I cannot login to the site either.

Is there something I missed while restoring that will get me going again?

Many thanks
Martin

Test Site problem: Admin links point back to Live Site

Wanting to upgrade, I have followed the steps here for creating a test site which will go in mysite.com/test_site. I have tried this both with the GUI methods and the command line methods.

Migrating 4.? to 5.15 - Lost in translation

As noted, I have -- with a great deal of success -- moved a very old (4.n ?) drupal site to 5.1.5. I still have the old site files, so if someone can tell me where to look, I would love to see exactly what version I did have!

Two items seem to have been lost in the move:

1. Printer-friendly links.
2. A custom block containing a listing of hrefs to be prominently displayed at the top of each page.

Updating Modules Correctly

I am a little new to Drupal and am wondering how I should update modules without losing information. For example, with Views, if I FTP the entire new Views download, will I lose the information that I currently have or is that stored somewhere else? Same with the FCKeditor, if I upload the new version, will it disregard my previous settings? What is the best practice... thanks

jason

I'm looking a the site. It says Install Site on the menu. It appears to be locked up

OK..

I had a couple corrupted modules or something.

I kept my Sites/ folder with everything in it.

Went through the entire pre-procedure for updating/upgrading/install.

Don't guess it matters, because I just removed the old 6.3 from the server and installed the 6.9.

I got to thinking about the corrupted files and thought it was best go.

Well, I did the setting.php and default.settings.php thing and CHmod to 777

WHen I accessed the site it took me through pretty well through the database setup and all.

I'm looking a the site. It says Install Site on the menu.

It appears to be locked up. I cannot do a ?q=user and get it do to anything.

I even tried the ?q=user ID 1 and all it did was start over, and prompt me again to Install Site

----------------------------------

I was thinking it might make sense to install the settings.php from my previous install, since I was using an existingDB.

Nope, I read the settings.php and it doesn't appear to me that is the answer.

Anyway, I could sure use some help on this. I need the site back up, since it is a production site.

This would be a best decription... The entire Drupal 6.3 has been removed. The entire Drupal 6.9 is installed in it's place.

The previous mysql database is intact, in good order and still onthe server.

Upgrading with zero downtime

Hi there,
Do you know of any guides, or even any ideas on how to upgrade Drupal with out taking the site off-line even for a few minutes?
I'm sure it's not too easy but large site like this one, digg and mtv.co.uk could never have any downtime, so there has got to be a way of doing it.
