Upgrading Drupal

Help!
I upgrade Drupal from 6.14 to 6.15 just now.
after that, I found everything seems to be Ok, but the homepage can't be opened now :(

I recently upgraded from 5.X to 5.20,,, everything seemed to come back OK which was great, except now all the audio on the site doesnt play,,, i get a 'error opening file' can be seen here http://www.robblackmusic.com , the actual mp3 audio files are there, just no action,, i thought it might be a path issue because the path on the audio node reads,,, files/audio/200911290030.mp3 when maybe it should read /files/audio/200911290030.mp3 with a forward slash at the beginning?????

I'm trying to update Drupal to 6.15 and the site is presently on 5.2

The problem is when I try to update the site from 5.2 to 5.21

but it gives me an error:

PHP register globals Enabled ('1')
register_globals is enabled. Drupal requires this configuration directive to be disabled. Your site may not be secure when register_globals is enabled. The PHP manual has instructions for how to change configuration settings.

i did try the php.ini method but it doesn't help

Why is this error not present on the 5.2 version and just when I update it ?

I began the process of building a Drupal installation on my local site a few months ago and am still in the building stage. The more I create the more scared I get about ever upgrading to a D7 Installation (REFERENCE: http://drupal.org/node/307129 )

These are some of the modules (data!) that I am concerned with losing in an upgrade from D6 to D7:

CCK
Views
Chaos
Panels
Fivestar
Advanced Profile Kit (if i upgrade what happens to this???)
Voting API
Content Taxonomy
Image Gallery
Webform
Petition Nodes

I am still actually trying to get a handle on Views and Panels and how to integrate the Advanced Profile Kit into my site using all available components. But, as I work, I see that all these modules are already (and rightfully so) migrating to D7 where D6 will not be maintained any longer. Good example of this is the Advanced Profile Kit.

So if I have hundreds of users who all have a profile, a track record, tons of stars having rated eachother and provided tons of feedback in the form of comments, should I not be concerned with upgrading to a D7 installation once the Drupal Community has fully developed D7?

Upgraded today from 6.14 to 6.15

Made all as described in upgrade.txt.

Finally at #10 I have to call www.example.com/update.php. This results in WSoD

If I try www.example.com/en/update.php I get: Page can not be found

I've tried to restore the old htaccess - no luck....

So what to do now???? Any idea anyone?

I really start to panic right now!

reading the UPGRADE.txt I found following :

5. Disable all custom and contributed modules
..
12. Re-enable custom and contributed modules

But how to guarantee the correct and complete restore of the previous configuration ?
Is this configuration saved somewhere ?
