Upgrading Drupal

Hello,

I am trying to update drupal code to version 7.38 but always getting Update Failed error. Our website is not secure as it has old version of drupal and getting hacked every week. We always contact the hosting company to restore the website.

Does anyone have an idea of how to execute an update another way?

I am new to Drupal and am reading books. When I come up with an error I usually just google and find a solution. Right not I am reading Definitive Guide to Drupal 7. I was able to install Drush successfully about a week ago and now I am trying to update from Version 7.37 to 7.38. I am navigating to the the correct installation folder in Git and typing drush up and I am getting this error below. I have googled this and some people are saying to change the settings.php file to say '127.0.0.1' and I did that and it still doesn't work for me. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Is in case of problems after the update I go back to the previous version?

Our Drupal website currently runs core 6.31. I have a test instance that I had upgraded to 6.35, but the upgrade broke our ability to call xmlrpc services on another server.

After some searching I happened upon the release notes for Drupal core 6.33. From the article

Hi, my site is drupal 7.34 . And I have 201 contribute modules installed .

I am afraid some modules not work normally after upgrade to 7.37.

How to ensure my 201 installed modules work normally after ugrade to drupal 7.37?

I want to upgrade Drupal to the new version, but, I don't know if this is something recommended, because, still it's a beta.
Is it worth upgrading to the new version?
