About upgrading

Hi all,

I have set up Drupal on my local machine and I got two questions..

1) How do I know whether the version of Drupal I'm using has been upgraded? I was using version 4.7.3 and supposedly upgraded to 4.7.4 but I dont see any difference, is there a way to check version number within the Drupal admin panel?

2) I tried to upgrade to version 5.0 after that but all I got was a blank white screen. I think I dont know how to upgrade to this version...can someone tell me how?

upgrade to Drupal 5

Hi everyone.
Has anybody tried yet to take an old site from Drupal 4.x to Drupal 5? Before I make a mess I was wondering if someone with better knowledge then me had some useful hints...

Upgrades on Fantastico, and sites/default

I have two Drupal web sites on Fantastico, and upgraded from v4.72 and 4.73 to 4.74. I didn't heed the warning about added modules and themes, but everything seems to have worked fine after I restored those. See my posting (3rd one down at http://netenberg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4876 ).

Whats the current best way to go from 4.5 to 4.7

I have read a couple of older posts on the subject, mainly relating to when 4.7 first came out. However as 4.6 seems to have considerably gained in version number since a number of the posts and also 4.7 I thought it was best to check on the current reccomended route before I break the site in trying. :)

The site is running the newest 4.5 version which I think it ended on 4.5.7? and obviously want to upgrade it to 4.7.4. What it the best upgrade route, would it be straight to 4.6.10 and then 4.7.4? Or would it be 4.6.0 to 4.7.4?

Upgrading from 4.6.5 to 4.7.4

Hi All,

After a lengthy read of content on drupal.org, I bit the bullet and upgraded on of my older installs 4.6.5 to the latest 4.7 (4.7.4) While I was happy with the success of the upgrade, I am a bit concerned at how my use of non core modules has affected the site. For example in my 4.6.5 install I had modules such as aggregator2, aggregator2_autotaxonomy, aggregator2_logo, ajax, buddylist, dba, flexinode, news_page just to name a few. Now I find myself having trouble determining just how to regain functionality. This is not a complaint, nor is it a lazy approach to getting help upgrading my modules, rather I would think that it might be a good snapshot of the challenges that the current upgrade system pose to the average drupal user who might not be a programmer or who might be at the edge of the skillset with implementing modules and over their head in trying to figure out a good way to bring modules up to date, and keep them that way.

So with that all my drupal sites are 4.7.x or better and most wont have this issue. Might it be a good idea to have the Modules administration page list not only the module and its enabled/disbled status but to list its version number and perhaps a link to its upgradepath/home on drupal.org? At any rate, I dont post here often but since I am here I just want to add that Drupal is the best choice for me and my customers and I love the directions we are going with drupal. To all the people who make my websites rock, thank you so much....
