txt files to database export

I m looking into developing a module that will get .txt files from a folder on the server and will import that file to the database automatically. It's a task that will be run at the same time daily. I'm not quite sure where to start. Would you be able to point me in the right direction? Any tips and advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I want to create books in Drupal 8; however, I can figure out how a user can come back to a book and continue reading where they left off.

Drupal 8 - most basic theme ever... didn't work

um.. ok.. this seems like a pretty straightforward thing. I'm trying to make a basic theme. I activated it and went to see, but nothing was there. " got: "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later."

So I stripped everything down to bare essentials. but still got the same message. I've checked folder names and all that's fine. What the heck am I missing? This seems like it's so simple there can't be anything done wrong!

Error breaks cron and IMCE

I have what appears to be a div element throwing an error in several scenarios. It prevents IMCE from opening the public:// folder (a imce-ajax-error appears, below). I am also unable to run cron but the failure message from the command line (also below) is uninformative. Neither of these failures appears in the server logs or the browser's console log. I believe the html element exists in every page in the site.
