Before you start

This page is used for exchanging insights and knowledge on moving a site from OG7 to OG8. Please add/correct. This is not the expert instruction page for doing this, but just my actions in getting a working environment. Any suggestions to improve the actions descrivbed below are highly appreciated.

The site I am migrating is a community/groups site both for inside information (intranet) and public. The site is based on Drupal and has integrations with CiviCRM and Nextcloud (only for access).

Hello everyone

I'm looking for a library or cataloq tool where I can store items based on categories like in a online store.

But I dont want to sell them (they dont have a price) but I want to use it as a cataloguing tool. (like a library)
And people can add their own entries.

First, I apologize if this is not the place to ask these questions; I am a complete novice to CMS and I'm over my head.

Background.  Back in the late 1990's, I used Microsoft Front Page to develop and maintain a family website that was all family news -- genealogy, progress of our new house, and the like.  GoDaddy was the host; they had FrontPage extensions installed, so, the site worked fine.  When GodDaddy dumped MS FrontPage extensions, I went to FileZilla as an FTP app to FTP my edited and new pages to the site on GoDaddy.  Life was good.

I have a website with Drupal 9 and the Geolocation module :

I created a content type with a Geolocation field that contains coordinates.

My website uses the Olivero theme. I want to create a Views page with the summary my nodes and create a Views block with my nodes on a map.

The block must be on the same page, but it must be in the "Hero (full width)" region of the Olivero theme.

Hello.
I'm an enthusiast of Drupal. Is it possible to use it without a composser like Drupal 7?
Hostings with my projects do not have shell access.
I don't want to switch to wordpress.
If Drupal 9 will work even without composer manually install the update will not bother me.

I am working on creating a directory (e.g. something similar to findbestseo.com), however in a different category.

I have been comparing both WordPress Drupal & I think both are good, however at least right now, Drupal seems more complicated to set it up.
