Which email list is best if I want to be notified of upgrades, especially security-related ones, but not much else?

drupal and newsletter- mailing lists integration

Hello!
I would like to use drupal to develop a collaborative enviroment for the production of a newsletter.
My problem is that the module simplenews seems to not support attachments, and i realy need them for my project.
So the question is:
is there a module to send e-mails with attachments?

Thank you in advance,
Andrea

Integrating PHP scripts into a Drupal site?

I've got a site which is currently not in a CMS and is largely PHP driven with database input forms, search forms etc. I've written all the scripts specifically for the site.

Drupal vs. Dot Net Nuke vs. Mambo?

I have been searching for a CMS for the non-profit org that I work with. We're about 40 people at our office now, planning to continue growing, working from 3 locations within the city. We've got a mix of ages, cultures, and levels of "IT IQ"....

As you can tell from the post subject, I'm looking at Drupal, Dot Net Nuke, and Mambo. If anyone could give me some suggestions/opinions as to what they think is best, I'd really appreciate it. I've been reading the specs and other info on each of the systems, but just can't make the decision.

Some things I have to consider in choosing the CMS are:
1. Ease of use for multiple users/contributors.
Our site needs to be something that contributors (with limited/varying computer skills) can easily update...things like dates/events, information, news, pictures, video.

2. Not a steep learning curve.
We have a huge range of technological comfort and skill levels. I'm also pretty new to CMS stuff, etc, and need something without a huge learning curve. We also need to get the site running quickly. We have a site now, but it is disorganized and not even all the same visual design. (We put our current site on hold because we wanted to migrate all our info to something new, using an open source CMS.) This boils down to --> we need to get things done quickly and don't want to get stuck for several more months learning another CMS.

OK, starting over - how would I fit this into Drupal's model?

Hi folks,

Drupal's a great package, I just can't get my hands around how I should use it. I'm wiping the site and starting fresh (after trying various modules, screwing up my DB a few times, etc.), and I need to create an Intranet site that has the following characteristics:

1. Organized by departments

The best way for my employees to think of where to get something is to think of where it comes from. Need computer help? Go to the IT Department. Need a tax form, go to HR. You get the idea.

I have classified my company into the following departments, grouped into what I call divisions at the head of every group:

Admin
- Finance / Accounting
- IT
- HR
- Legal
- Marketing

Residential (right now, no departments)

Logistics
- Procurement
- Shipping
- Receiving

Customer Support
- CSR
- Service Techs
- Warranty Admin
- Parts

Operations
- Culinary
- Sales
- Engineering
- Manufacturing

2. Multiple content types per department (or it's own menu item)

Now, here's the type of content that any or all departments will each have the potential of having:

- Photo Gallery (could be one shared gallery or each department could have one/several to themselves)

- Files (in a list, with keywords, which any user can download - includes video clips, PPT files, Word, Excel, PDF, etc.)

Creating a multiple blog site like blogger

Hi everyone,

I am very new to drupal. And I have a client that would like to create a site that is similar to blogger, except for a specific industry.

Is this something that is possible? What would the best way to create this be?

Blogger currently sets up something like john.blogger.com as its URL, but I think that they would be happy just to have a link into the each individuals blog page.

would drupal be a good tool to do this?

-John
