Drupal for a High School Athletics site

Hey All,

I have a current high school athletics website in PHP-Nuke, more specifically, Raven Nuke 7.6v2.02 (includes sentinel).

First of all, sounds like Drupal would be ideal for this site... I have categories of all the different sports (baseball, varsity football, jv-football, girls-jv-volleyball, etc), and each sport has several items (roster, schedule, results, photos, news, etc). I started the site last year, and this year realize I have to also categorize by year so past year's can be looked up. Would be nice if all schedules could also be in a grouping. Also, sports are in three seasons, Fall, Winter, Spring, a possible grouping.

No ads up currently, but would also want capability to have ads. Site would require several different people to do updates (mainly for news/game writeups), but would be cool if coaches would have edit access to pages in their sport. Some updates done by students, so would be good if there were an approval process that could be in place for some users. There are password protected areas for coaches, staff. Sometimes, we do LIVE updates, from my cell phone using TuSSH, would be great if we could updates via cell phone browser (or email).
I'm assuming Drupal could do all of this nicely?

Second, does anyone know if porting Raven Nuke 7.6 to Drupal is an easy task? If not, I'm almost willing to start fresh, and have a link back to last year's nuke site.

Is drupal right for my music site?

The idea of my site is too gather a large database of musicians along with their information (bio, links to music, video, etc). The user can then search for a musician, or song, or whatever. Alternatively the user can sort the data by date, for example, and browse everything at once.

To do this in drupal, would I just make each musician a node? How would searching and sorting work?

Thanks a lot for any input.

Sell me on Drupal

After years of hand coding my websites with CSS and HTML, I'm finally looking into running my website in a smarter and user friendly manner. I'm simply tired of hand coding everything from the ground up and having to edit countless pages each time I add a bit of content. I've narrowed down my search to either Drupal or Mambo/Joomla (which seem to be the most robust and have the most potential for longevity). However, I'm having trouble deciding which cms to use. I was hoping that you guys could give me a hand with that.

My Skillset
I've got strong HTML and CSS skills, as well as good general tech skills. I'm a PhP novice, but can probably learn quickly.

The Website
Basically, I run a roleplaying website. 90% of my material is text based, though I also share some maps and such that I've done. Basically I'm sharing spells, feats, prestige classes and other similar material. Readability is going to be a must. I'm going to be the only one adding content, I'm just looking for an easier way to add it.

Ideally, I'd like to lay the website out in two or three columns with tables, not CSS. I've just found that CSS tends to break sometimes with certian browsers. In addition, I'd like a row of section links on the horizontal (such as the menu at the top of this page) and then a vertical section on the left with all the material in that particular section. I only ever want one article per page, as each unique item gets its own page. Finally, I'd like a front page blog (which I know can be done) and forums. How possible is all of this and how easy is it to set up with a clean design?

Is Drupal right for me?

Hello everyone. I have a few questions to find out if Drupal would be right for our organization.

We are a non-profit organization that sells books, posters, and soon - downloads. We ship to all over the world.

We are looking to put a gallery up and articles from archives (museum type). We'd also like the forum and some sort of community building modules.
