Before you start

I am using Drupal for a few low traffic sites. I am working on a new site idea that will (hopefully) be higher traffic. Here are the main requirements.

Hi :) I've been trying to find a suitable CMS, and so far Drupal looks good. But there were a few things I couldn't work out how to do (using the demo at opensourcecms.com), so here goes with the questions:
- does new content have to be displayed on the front page? I'd prefer a mostly static welcome screen.
- can Drupal be easily integrated with a SMF forum database?
- how easy is it to create a new design / layout for Drupal?
- is the version in Fantastico the current release, or will it need patching on a fresh install?
- are mods easy to install?

ok i'm looking to set up a business website with the following requirements:

- users can post entries to a database for a fee;

- members can then search the database for entries;

- members can contact users about their entires;

its basically a very very simple version of something like ebay. so i will require a database of sorts, login/member sections, and pref some sort of payment thing (for instance linked with worldbank or paypal)...

I'm currently investigating different CMS's out there. I have experience with Mambo and Joomla as a hobby, but I'm looking at something more professional.

I currently run a closed non-profit membership organization. We have our community site through a provider which I believe is charging a bit much. Joomla didn't meet my needs, which is why we outsourced this to a third party.

My question. Can drupal handle the following features/requirements?

I’m looking to create a site that will primarily function as a file repository for clients. Basically, I’m looking to replace a FTP server with a WebDAV server and a sexy interface for clients that need to up load/down load graphics files in the 5mb-50mb range. The opportunity to expand the capabilities of the site would be a big plus, but is overshadowed by the primary objective of web storage. Is Drupal my solution? Anyone use Drupal to create an Internet file storage site? ANY feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

For several months now I have been using Joomla CMS but have wanted to switch for awhile now. I spent alot of time looking over CMS' at OpenSourceCMS.com and constantly keep coming back to Drupal. I would say that Joomla and Drupal are my two picks for a cms.
