Is Drupal a viable solution for my website? Please review What is Drupal before posting.

Need more info please

I first want to clarify my smarts....I know enough about html and javascript to be dangerous (meaning yes several times I have completely deleted things). I have maintained a couple of websites using Frontpage but want to take it a level up. I do understand the mysql and php again enough to be dangerous, what I am trying to say here is that I am no expert but I'm trainable :)

Would Drupal fit my needs for:

craft related website that I want to be able to upload complete patterns, making them printable to users. Will I be able to upload short videos for example: how to so a single crochet etc. ? They would be short little videos. I'm not really that interested in having a forum but having a comments features, which I did see is very doable with Drupal and of course a blog.

Also I want to know if I uploaded into a theme a logo, does this top portion show on each and every page (I want it to) along with the menu so that no matter where a user goes they can easily navigate around the site (I think this is one of the best features of Drupal but again I don't want to assume this so a yes that is what Drupal is for would be great)

I did try and read everything but I could not really find answers to these questions. I know these may sound like silly questions but I'm a chicken and maybe I just need a little hand holding. I do not currently use any CMS and yes I have taken a look at others but to be honest, the reason I am going to give Drupal a try is because one thing continually pops up about it....stability which to me means that if people visit my site and it's down alot, then that means alot will not be coming back. Thanks for any help.

Usergroups question

Hello!

I just this drupal system and i would like to know more before i install it.

So Drupal can do the following: ?

- if a user register on the site, he or she join automatically a specified group?
- Can i add more groups to downloads category (for example: trial group and vip group can able to download from a specific downloads category)

I tell you what i would like to:

Drupal Ecommerce and aMember for Site Memberships

As I've received a number of questions regarding how we integrated the e-commerce component of memberships on concreteideas.com with aMember software, I've posted an overview on my blog:

Drupal vs XOOPS

I am a longtime user of XOOPS and recently tried Drupal

i am impressed

i think in the near future i will write an eBook for newbiews

it did take me about 48 hours (deducting breaks and sleeping time) to get the hang of it, but at the end i was pelased. Learning to use it to long due took lack of easier instructions in plain English.

I recommend Drupal

I sure hope they can incorporate more control over the placements of content on a particular location on the page (as in Xoops) for a more graphical variety capability.

Anyway,,,,,

Can WordPress and Drupal 5 share the same database?

I have a setup now where I run two different sites using WordPress (separate domains) sharing the same MySQL database. One uses a xx_ tag in front of all of its tables, and it works fairly well.

I want to move both of those over to Drupal, and I'm a little concerned because I don't have much in the way of admin rights to the MySQL configuration -- all I have are rights to my database.

So I was thinking -- given that Drupal 5 has an auto install routine, could I continue to use my one MySQL database to set up the Drupal sites by specifying specific prefixes?

making a review site [drupal vs. joomla]

hey guys...i made a post below about the capabilities of drupal... one of the forums i grace .netmag.co.uk spoke against drupal and for joomla for my criteria...

i am in the process of making a simple review site...joomla has jreviews for $80 and drupal has a lot of mods that might add up to the same amount of work...

can anyone speak for a review mod for drupal? that's really all and what i need...thx
