Before you start

Hello everyone!

I am a web designer in my free time and I now have a new project. I want to create a website that would be a community for wholesalers and retailers in a specific market to get in touch with each other.

The basis for the site would be paid ads from wholesalers. Retailers would visit the site primarily to find new products.

The format would most likely be a bunch of banners on each page - so I am not sure about the loading speed... I need to be able to accept most formats (gifs, jpegs, png, flash...)

I am running drupal happily on my personal website, where the drupal files and the database are on the same server. But I am working on a new project in which the website files will be on one server and the database will be on another, remote server with no connection to the first. I assume that this will not be a problem, and that all I have to do is correctly specify the full url to the database in the settings, But before I go ahead and give it a try, I just wanted to check that this will actually work and that there won't be other issues I haven't thought of.

Hi there. Im trying to make a CMS site that is in spanish and that includes a forum that is in spanish as well. Im wondering if Drupal has a forum built in or if i need to install a module to install it, and if that forum has a spanish translation for the frontend. Basically i want the front-end of my site to be totally in spanish including the forum, i don't mind the administration and backend being in english as long as the regular users have all spanish.

I am just putting together a site using Drupal for the first time. I am also wanting to build in ecommerce and erp modules. So I want to know several questions and hope you can help me.

1. Do the ecommerce and erp modules interact with each other. i.e. if I sell a product in ecommerce does that register under erp? If a new customer is created in ecommerce does that then create a new erp customer? etc.

Do I have to preview forum posts each time I make a new one?
Is the theme on Drupal.org available for download?
Why is the attitude of some of your users so bad? I was going to skip Drupal because of the mean people in your community and IRC. I know come on, YOU DON'T win users by trying to be so "pro" and unfriendly to "newbies".

Will I be able to update from Drupal RC1 to Final version?

Could someone here give me a (recipe book) for to build a social networking site, i.e.
1/ Feature of a social networking site that can be accomplished with drupal's modules
2/ Features that cant or not yet can be accomplished with drupal's modules

I realise that social networking sites are always bag of all-sorts so please dont be cynical with the responses.
