i want to use the clean urls function, but in General settings->Clean URLs, it is disabled for choose "Disabled" or "Enabled", why ?

now in my site,all linking like this -> index.php?q=xxxx/xxxx
how can i hidden the "index.php" in my site ? make it like drupal.org site -> http://webiste.com/xxx/xxx

I use image assist to put images on my pages, but the text goes under it, what can I do so it goes around the image?

Everytime I submit a story it says the author and the date, what can I do so this does not show up?

How can I make a page, that my users can navigate using the categories that I have arranged? I only want some of my pages to be like this, is this possible?

My first night using Views, I thought I would go crazy mad. But I just kept trying different things (approaches) until Wham - Wow ! ..... that's just what I want.

I'm new to this Drupal thing so please excuse any naivety here.

I've got Drupal up running on my web host. What I'm trying to do is create a catalog of information, similar to the "Handbooks" page. Ideally, this would work just like it does on this site. There's a "Library" text link is in the upper right (I have that working) and when the user clicks on that, they'll be taken to this "table of contents" page.
