Not sure if this is best for General Discussion, but I'll start here.
In the past we created 4 versions of our own CMS (starting in ASP, then moving into a J2EE application using JBOSS). However, knowing that we do not have the resources needed for maintaining a large-scale CMS (only 4 programmers on staff, all with different specialties and responsibilities) we decided to start looking at some Open Source solutions. So far we have (or are) looking at: Drupal, OpenEdit, and AlFresco.
OpenEdit is just a CMS (though a great project). AlFresco seems overkill for our needs at present (more of an Enterprise CMS), and again primarily a CMS. Drupal seems to integrate a number of things we are needing lately for our current clients, features such as: the CMS, online forums, newsletter capability, blogs, user registration and login or anonymous access for casual browsing of a site, and statistics and traffic tracking. Right now we have been integrating various packages to bring these things about (such as phpBB, AW Stats, FCK Editor, and then our own CMS). We want to move into a product that combines all of these features, and a product that we could become part of the development community (eventually).
So, here are my questions or concerns about Drupal:
1) Can we or is there in development the ability to integrate banner ads and administer such (for paid advertisers on a web portal)?
