Hi,
sorry to ask a dumb question but i think it may also help with others on how to use this exciting feature.
I am still finding my way around Drupal. What i'm curious to know is if people can give first hand experience on how to use the throttle and the number or % of users before throttle activates and other such things in i think it was settings.
for example.
i'm on a virtual host, I did read and come across the article about slashdot mentioning drupal and how there was a stress test.
How many users can drupal and mysql withstand, i'm aware it becomes a hardware issue eventually. But let's say I set it to 500 users, would this be ok? What about when it kicks in the throttle, is this 500 a good threshold? What are others doing on a practical level?
Do you set 500 for anonymous and 500 for regisrtered, can the site withstand 1000 users? On a normal host like mine with hostgator, how much can it really withstand?
The other question, what will happen when the system can't withstand it, in non technical talk, does it mean your site crashes and there is irreparable damage or just denial of service, is there a too busy page if there are too many users on drupal?
These and discussion like this will really help me.
What can my host do to accomodate higher usage (i need to ask these questions and be optimistic that my site is really wanted of course!!).
