Drupal 7.x

I am using the Corporate Clean theme with the slideshow.  On one of the slides I want to list the 5 most recent articles.  The only way I can see of doing this is via SQL accessing the node, field_body, ( and revisions ) and users tables and then display the results in an HTML table.  It would be nice if this could be done with Views or something via the UI.  Is there a better way than SQL and php code ?  Thanks.

I have a website where I would like my users to be able to enter length, width, and height values and then get a total area result. I've not yet rolled up my sleeves to work this out, I figured I would ask and see if anyone else has done something like this before reinventing the wheel. I assume I would need to leverage the webform module to allow users to input these values. Any thoughts?

Searching for a back-end developer who can assist our company with optimizing our server for delivering a high-trafficked drupal website.

We run a news website that can see major spikes in traffic. When this happens, our server bottlenecks when there are about 150 users on the site. The only solution for us is to sit by and keep restarting the http server through WHM.

This is an impossible issue for us to solve, as nobody has the necessary expertise in database optimization or server configuration.

I thought I should also post the site I created last year and would appreciate any feedback.  Although it still needs some polishing I decided to not pursue further work on it until I migrate this site to Drupal 8 in the near future.

Started off with premium flatclassifieds theme hoping to save some time (regretted it quite quickly however :) ) but had to make many alterations to achieve the final product.

Main modules used are

I would like to build an event listing site where each event host can create their own events and sell tickets to them - the proceeds being automatically split between myself and the host.

I've had a quick look at Marketplace for Ubercart and Commerce but neither seem ready to go.

Can anyone think of another way of doing this?
