Drupal 7.x

Dear Drupal Community,

I'm trying to find the most elegant way to set a custom frontpage TPL, independent from the mainpage TPL in Drupal 7. Only authenticated user have access to see anything. Someone trying to access the page lands on the access denied page which should just show a login and nothing else.

Optional: Once logged in you get routed to the frontpage and not to the page you were trying to reach.
