Need Drupal 7 photo gallery solution desperately!

We desperately need a viable Drupal 7 photo gallery solution, or management will not allow us to use Drupal 7 for our monumental project and instead force us to use Joomla. So far I've tried a solution that requires the following plugins...

• Media
• Media Gallery
• Entity API
• Styles
• Multiple Forms

...and in the end, it doesn't work. All these modules are either dev, alpha, or beta, and apparently something just isn't ready for prime time.

Database hangup with new D7 install and/or D6 > D7 conversion . MySQL

I am trying to set up a D7 test installation. To learn before I do any actual conversions - I have maybe 10 accounts running on D6 (done over a couple years). So, while I am not a hotshot, I do know my way around a little...

Usually i install a new D6 system by allowing Fantastico to install on my (public) server. Piece of cake...

I have tried to install D7 two ways:

1) Download D7 from Drupal and follow directions and 2) Create 6.19 D6, get it going, then run D7 conversion from local.

New content type confusion

Greetings!

I am looking for assistance. I've been working on a Drupal site for some time now. I haven't launched the site yet. I'm developing on a Mac, with MAMP.

Background / purpose:

I'm an indie musician. The site I'm building will be, primarily, maintained by me. I do not plan on a registered user base. At least not at launch. The main meat of my site, and the point of this post - is a discography. I have a lengthy catalog that I want to feature on the site.

At this time I do not need to provide the ability to play audio. I hope to do that in the future. At this point I simply want a discography that provides Date, artist name/branding, album or project title, perhaps a brief description. Explained:

Date: The date of release - year, perhaps a month if known.

Artist name / branding: I've worked under different monikers over the years. Different brand names and the like.

Album or project title: Most entries in the Discography will be album titles, but there are other entries, such as a season of TV soundtrack work or some such.

Description: a brief description of the project listed.

D7 Post Settings For front page and Teasers

I'm just playing with Drupal 7 right now, but I was trying to change the default behavior of the front page. In D6 you could go to the Administration->Post Settings page to change the number of posts and the default Teaser length of a post. I cannot find where to set the Teaser length for the front page.

I've found you can set the default # of posts on the front page at
sitename.com/admin/config/system/site-information

But the default teaser size for the front page isn't there.

If I edit the display settings for the article content type and change the trim size for the teaser from 600 to say 1,000,000 this does it globally. I guess this works, but what if I want a shorter teaser on a view or some where else?

All I really want to do is show the entire post on the front page unless I specifically set a teaser in the post. Anyone know how to do this in Drupal 7?

Also a question on Teasers in Drupal 7.

Node template for content type

Hi,

I've got a content type called 'nieuws'. How can I create a node template for this content type?

'node-nieuws.tpl.php' or 'node--nieuws.tpl.php'?

When I use views to render a node the template file 'node--nieuws.tpl.php' works... However, when I load the node directly 'node/x' it doesn't work...

what's going on here?!

Drupal 7 + Bartik + Dropdown for Main Menu Children

Pardon my Noobness as this is my first Drupal site. While there is a TON of great information here, the newness of D7 makes it sometimes difficult to determine how valid the information is when its not specifically labeled as such.. so..

I am using Drupal 7 and the provided Bartik theme.

Just so I am clear, in order to get the "children" links on a Main menu to display as drop down items of their parents, I must install a module such as NiceMenus or Superfish (or write my own).
