Drupal 7.x

I'm trying to define some fields for the user, I can create and delete them but I can't figure out how to define the default_value_function to calculate the default value for the fields said.

The documentation (http://api.drupal.org/api/drupal/modules--field--field.module/group/field/7) doesn't propose any example.

default_value_function (string) The name of the function, if any, that will provide a default value.

My field instance definition:

I have a D7 site up but it seems after much testing and research there are zero modules that are ready for a production site as far as multimedia Friends or an actual chat room should I just revert to D6 it would seem atleast in my limited use that D7 is not even ready itself with alot of errors and how can they talk of D8 when D7 is not ready with any modules if I am wrong please advise thanks

I just installed drupal 7. I need to create a http://mobile.softpedia.com like website which has capability of searching phones by specs and compares them.
And also has thumbnail and pictures of the phones.
Please suggest some important additional modules for me to start looking at.

I've tried several times but nothing i do changes this.

I have a large chunk of writing i've done with a pre opening and closing tag in the middle. Everything after the pre doesn't run through drupals filters properly and skips all line breaks and adds everything between double quotes (") as seen here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59318/pre_issue_1.png

If i move the writing above the pre the line breaks properly filter and the proper spacing shows, soon as i move it below the pre it stops working again.

Using 1and1 hosting. I followed the directions and just can't find the x:\drupal\drupal-4.7.2\database in the step below .. downloded Drupal 7.0

Below is the directions I followed:
You need to find the database folder in the Drupal download. Should be something like x:\drupal\drupal-4.7.2\database. Select the file database.4.0.mysql and click open and now the second “Go” button. The data will be imported.
