Drupal 7.x

I am using the Bartik theme for Drupal 7. How do you make a special button with a different color in the main menu?

I am a programmer and am new to drupal. I am looking at building some sites, as a programmer I normally deal with the backend and not on the front end (what the site looks like) but since this is my website I am now responsible for both the backend and the frontend.

I hear a lot of talk about wireframes, I looked for a module but do not see one. There is something called Wireframe Me that seems to be a wireframe helper not a wireframe module.

I am trying to set up a website that will use drupal and a CRM. I have been looking at civicrm as a potential solution. The main function of this database is to remind my clients of calls they need to make. For example they will log into the site and a list will have been generated of clients they need to contact. They can click this list and view the clients information and make the call. Once the call is over they need to be able to determine when this client will appear in the call list again be it a day, two days or xmonths.

For two months now I've been strugling my way through the Drupal jungle, teaching myself the basics on Drupal with help of all there is to find on this forum and Drupal.org. And now I'm stucked. The problem is, there is so much information that I don't know how to go on from here.

I'm planning on a site where students can register themselves and have the ability to create their own portfolio page within a standard layout. Textual information and images may be added within different areas (panels) in a predefined layout.

So I have D7 installed and I am trying to get my Calendar to just display my Content type called Event. But I am having issues, it displays:

As the subject says, I have an xml with content from Joomla. What's the best way to bring it into Drupal? I probably have close to 300 articles if not more.
