Drupal 7.x

Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to limit the number of characters a user can enter in a long textfield. I've set up a D7 blog tool with wysiwyg and tinymce enabled, but so far, I haven't found any out-of-the-box functionality to do so.

We like to connect drupal 7 with SQL.
When we install drupal 6 we can connect to index.php

When we install drupal 7 we got the http-errro 500.19 internal server errror
faultcode 0x80070021

Is it possible in drupal form, using #ajax event "keyup" or "keypress" will only take effect in a certain key?
Example I just want to use the TAB key, and so if the TAB key is press the ajax will perform.

If this is possible, what is the best way to do.

When I set them up I just get the text editor box to change like the ck editor but no toolbar!? I dont know what to do... any suggestions?
