File system settings

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section, this is my first post and I'm guessing here! This is my first website, let alone first website using Drupal, so forgive my ignorance!

OK, so I've developed a small site locally using MAMP on OS X, managed to get the whole thing live but I am really struggling with the file system settings. I'm getting this message on the Status report:

is there a way to have a blog in drupal 7 in which one page will have listings of all blog pages?

How to access comments details in page.tpl.php

Hi,
I am trying to theme my site in page.tpl.php and I want to access the comment form details. I am not sure how can I access this.

I am able to access my custom fields by $node->field_secondcolor['und'][0]['value']; but I am stuck when it comes to comments.

Hope someone can point me to the correct direction.

Cheers,
vishal

Removing "Welcome to <sitename> website!" message from the main page

Hello!

I want to remove that message from the main page. I don't want to put anything on the main page nor set a different main page because I modified it a lot.

Please tell me what I should exactly edit in which files.

Thank you in advance.

Unable to save/display Basic Page on the Home page of a new Drupal 7 installation.

My Installation seemed to go okay. However, when I came to add on content to my home page I decided to use the "Basic Page" option. Having set it up and saved it, I went back to the home page but it didn't appear there.

I added a Poll on to the home page and that displayed okay after loading the Home page.

I then tried "Article" and "Forum Topic"; "Article" worked and appeared on the Home page. "Forum Topic" does not appear on the home page but I can get to it using the Forums Link. I suppose that's how I should expect it to work.

Blindfolding the administrator

The site administrator is all powerful, and can see all content (including uploaded files). What if this is the one problem that prevents a new site being built on Drupal?
