Drupal 7.x

I'm reading through the documentation at drupal.org and "Pro Drupal 7 Development", trying to understand how themes work. I want to create a simple theme from scratch bit by bit and apply what I have learned.

One intention behind this is to get a theme that renders pages as small as possible: clean HTML, no unneeded CSS and JS files.

The search_data() function accepts an optional $conditions argument for the search. The API documentation simply says the following about the $conditions argument:

$conditions: Optional array of additional search conditions.

But I don't know how that array should be formatted. I assume it would be an associative array with key value pairs like:

Hi there,

I am new to drupal and trying to work out how to deal with images. I basically want to be able to add images to the content of the pages or blocks.

I have a very basic theme based on the bartik theme. I have an option in the edit page section to upload and impage but when I view the page this image just shows a text link to the file. If clicked it opens up in a new window.

I want to see the image on the page next to the text.

Any ideas or can you direct me to support pages for how to insert images in to pages etc?

copy a node and be able to post it anywhere as a div?

is there a way to do this with out using views? it would be very neat.
