drupal 7 imagecache quality per preset

Hi,

some eeks ago i had the idea that a very small thumbnail could have a much lower quality than a 800x600 "final view" image. That saves badwith on overviewpages with lots of small thumbs. If you want to have your "final view" big images in good quality, then you set quality to 100%, but then all thumbs (that also look ok with 50%) would have 100% too.

Is there a way to have the thumbnails with 50% quality and big images with 100%?

I even tought about cioding but some skilled people told me that coding that would be a very hard task.

calculating and showing blocks conditionally in D7

During the process of rendering a page by Drupal 7, when is the decision made whether to calculate the block or not? By "calculate" I mean make the block ready to be displayed by a template.

Is the block calculated always, no matter if its asigned to any region or not (a big waste of processing power)?

Or maybe it is calculated only if it is assigned to a region (also a big waste if there are lots of blocks defined but they in fact show rather rarely, only in specific situations).

Menu item only with picture, text hidden - How?

I need to make menu where first link (home) is only a picture - no text. Other menu items have text and maybe background image.
I have tried with nicemenus-module and css hidding but I have not found any good solution.

So how to do this fairly simple task?

Superfish into my own theme

Hi all,
I want to add superfish menu to my drupal 7.x theme. I have created 'superfish_menu' block using theme info file, installed library and superfish modules and also downloaded and added superfish library into sites/all/libraries. What to do next? I need it from the scratch. Please mention any tutorials, if available.

Thanks in advance!

Media Gallery Solution for Drupal 7?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has a good suggestion for the Photo/Media Gallery for Drupal 7. We're building a website for a magazine, and articles are frequently accompanied by one or more images. We would like to be able to embed thumbnail or low-resolution versions of these images into articles with a brief description when articles are created. A visitor would then be able to click on an individual image and view a larger version of the picture.

Send mail to all users

I've searched far and wide for this. Everything I find requires a vast amount of scripting which I have little clue about. Can someone point me to how I can just find a page that allows me to enter the subject into a text box and the body into another text box and send that in an email to all users in a simple way? It doesn't need to be fancy.
