Drupal 7.x

I'm a newbie and working on first project with Drupal 7 using Urban Solice theme which has an image in the banner block region. I've looked all over the net and couldn't find a simple answer as to how to insert the image (which at some point may become a slideshow). I've got several modules installed (e.g. Field, Insert, Color, CTools, Views, Token, Pathauto, etc.). So I believe I have all the right tools - I'm just stumped on the process of getting it done. I've created a block and wondering that all I need to do now is create a content-type or a field in order to upload the image.

I cannot see, edit, or delete items on any menu; the admin overlay is corrupt. Nor can I delete a custom menu I made (there's no "delete" link). See screen print here: http://drupal.org/node/1204690

I am new to Drupal, Switching from Joomla.

I am a little lost. I am making a relatively simple site (Brochureware), I want to remove the login from the front page and add it to a hidden page or link. I turned off the login module, logged out and tried using the links I found on the web to log back in...

apparently you can't use HOOK_theme() in template.php? is this true? i tried to declare my own hook_theme in template and its not being registered... i also cleared cache.. so im not sure..

any suggestions?

I've set up Color module for my theme - it works pretty well, but takes too much vertical space (I have a bunch of colors).
What i'm trying to do is to alter system-theme-settings form to make Color scheme fieldset collapsible.
