Ajax errors the first time I try to install any module -FIXED

I'm using 7.4 and have an ongoing issue where most of the time, but not all, the first time I try to install any module results in a Ajax error. It happens too quickly to get the exact text, but it occurs just before the thermometer bar starts its progress. Sometimes, the module actually installs, but most of the time I have to delete the folder in sites /all, try again and it works. I have no idea why this is, but I must have installed 20 modules this way. Any ideas why this happens?

Testimonial Rotator on the Front Page via Views Rotator

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how to implement testimonial rotator like on this HVAC Cleaning site http://proairduct-cleaning.com. That site is on wordpress.

Thanks!

Editing my website

I am new to Drupal and building my site but not sure what happened. I've been playing with Drupal just this summer getting my website built - GoDaddy is hosting it.

Before today I would go to "www.mysite.com/drupal7" URL directory, and this is where I would do my editing of the site, which was NOT live. Now I go to the same URL and I can no longer do any editing, the website is now live when I type in that URL.

How do I get back it to edit mode? I don't want anyone seeing the site.

Thanks,
Mike

Read a lot - still looking for an answer

Okay, I'm going to start off by saying I've been doing front-end development for about 5 years now. I've tried to use several different kinds of CMS software including ModX, Joomla and CMS Made Simple. Of these, I liked CMS Made Simple the best.

Blog functions and display results

So I've got a multi-user blog site in D7. I was using a custom PHP block for displaying user blogs on various content types based on the content type author. After the upgrade, I accidentally deleted this block and have no idea what I was doing.

Bassically, it was a PHP snippet that looked for the node author and then displayed that user's blog entries in the block. So let's say user/user-name created a basic page and I have the PHP in the tpl.php for the blog, it will display all (or some) of user/user-name's blog entries.

Advantages of defining fields in code

Hi,

I've just started working with Drupal 7 and I've just created my first modules as part of my first site build. During the install process my module creates a new content type and defines fields using the field API.

What are the advantages of defining the fields in code compared to using the UI? I did it once and it was a good learning experience to see how it all works under the hood but I'm wondering if this will just make it harder once requirements change, new fields need to be added or altered, etc.
