Drupal 7.x

I'm running Drupal 6.20 on shared hosting ("Home") account at 1and1.com and want to upgrade to Drupal 7. Has anybody tried this on 1&1 servers with the standard upgrade procedures, and if so, were there any problems? My site is pretty simple with only 2 additional modules (AdSense and FCKeditor). I noticed that 1&1 now offers Drupal 7 installation via their control panel. Would that make my upgrade process any easier?

I want to get rid of the space below my header logo in Garland.

I know the header is 80 pixels tall, but when I try changing that value it messes up other things.

I want to reduce the dark colored section below my logo (which is empty) by 20 pixels, and also get rid of the lighter colored section that appears just above the main column (and is about 20 pixels tall).

I just installed a new instance of Drupal 7.7. So far, everything went well, except one thing: If I want to add a module via URL, I get the following error message:
Error message: Cannot extract temporary://update-cache-161df812/download, not a valid archive.

It seems that there has been a bug linked to this in an early version of Drupal 7.0 reported here and here.

Any idea what might be wrong about my install?

It 'is' possible to add vocabularies to taxonomy and to use those vocabularies as the base or parent vocabulary in the content type settings for the node reference field

Alright, I'm a total newbe to Drupal. But here's my problem.

How to delete panel content?

Once I made a panel there is some content inside a pane I dont want, when I click on the configure button I go down to remove. But, when I press the remove button, it loads a "page not found" page. And my adjustment, is not saved.

Anyone more experience with this bug?
