bounty: (wanted) drupal 6 theme, newspaper style, a paying gig

hi. i'm looking for a drupal theming whiz who can create a newspaper style theme in the spirit of fastcompany.com or other more specific newspaper styled sites built on drupal (there are many)....basically a drupal 6 specific theme that would incorporate a nice looking multi-column footer, multiple regions on home page for inheriting stories in specific categories, 2 or 3 columns (not sure, like 2 on home page and 3 on others)...

...and a very specific request: trying to keep this reasonable so that it can be done in a fairly quick time frame for a site launch.

Ver. 5.x versus 6.0

So I'm in the process of building a site for our condo community. Been working with ver. 5.7.

Then I get a Drupal newsletter, and they talk about how great 6.0 is.

So do I go with 6.0, realizing some of the contributed modules will still not be available for a while, or go ahead and deploy 5.7?

Views 2.0 alpha2 VS Views 2.x Dev - for drupal6

I'm confused...

The Views on the views module page for drupal 6 is Views 2.0 Alpha2: http://drupal.org/project/views

Once installed it tells me the recommended version is Views 2.x Dev: http://drupal.org/node/95897

The latter is the most recently updated (20th feb VS 18t feb).

So am i missing something? Why isn't the Dev available one on the views page? And why would there be an Alpha and a Dev version out simultaneously?

Link for New Posts since Last Visit??

Is there a button I can add to Drupal forums that says something like "View posts since your last visit?"

PHPBB has this and my users are getting frustrated w/out it here. Any help is really appreciated!

Unmaintained modules

What do we do about modules that are not maintained any more.

As an example, the singlesignon module developer has not made and commits to that module in the last year, and in fact doesn't appear to have been active at all in the past year. A message sent directly to this developer a week ago has received no response.
