some thoughts on drupal

I just want to share this as an encouragement to the many who are struggling to get drupal up.

I am not an IT geek and the web world is certainly not my forte, having spent most of years in banks. Thus when i decided to do something about my idea on a non-profit organization, i looked around for an appropriate software. In bewilderment.

Tried Wordpress, Movable Type, B2evolution, Expression Engine, Textpattern, Drupal, Joomla, Plone. By 'tried' i meant i downloaded it, and play around with it to the best of my ability. Except for Plone which i cannot seem to install it.

And my ability at that time was not much. My hosting provider gave me access to the space rented from them. I stared at the open space. Read through all the documentation. And wondered what on earth is MySQL, ftp and chmod. Through a process of trial and error, i managed to learn and read through many books on php, css, html in addition to the hosting manual and the manuals of the above softwares. It is all too much as what i wanted is to 'click and play'. The simplest to install is Wordpress but i was looking for something more than a blog.

Thus i just want to say i understand the frustrations of newbies who are trying to setup their websites.

"2 attachments" annoyingly listed in story summary

My users couldn't care less about how many attachments a given node has, yet in the article summary that's listed very prominently - it's even hyperlinked to a list of the attachments, and it's line-breaking mid hyperlink - it makes things quite cluttered and confusing.

Surely there's some way to turn that off, but I can't find it anywhere...

Change site name color

Hi all,
I've just got 6.1 installed and running on default theme. I can see how i can adjust the site colors though color picker in theme configuration, but i can't find where i can edit the color of the Site's name that is displayed at the very top? It seems it is always set to white and i would like to have it in green.

What file and line do i need to edit to get this done?
Thank you

There is the "path" .How I enter material needed for this section? lowercase,no spacing, etc?I really do need someone to point me on the right road folks.

Search a numerical range

Good day Drupal Gurus & Ninjas,

I want to allow my users to search 'widget node' (fake name of the node) by a specific 3 digit numerical value. Each 'widget node' needs to have a numerical value range (i.e. 600-680). This range can (& most often is) be proprietary.

In a perfect world, I would like to give users the ability to search with an interface much like Kayak.com, at my basic skill-set, unless there is a module, this might be out out the question.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers!
