Installing Drupal

I have to move an existing Drupal site from one server to another. I've done so by doing a mysql database export/import and copying over the files to the new server. On the new system, the root page comes up fine but if I try to go to any deeper directory levels I get a 404 Not Found Error.

so drupal.newserver.com -> works fine but drupal.newserver.com/user -> gives me a 404 and happens,same for all subdirectories

I've spent quite a few hours trying to figure out a problem with my Fresh Drupal 7 install. I can login as admin:admin, and the credentials are accepted, but I am not given any permissions afterwards.

Login works but the page doesn't change once I log in as admin. I know that the login works because wrong credentials generate an error. I do not even see the administrative toolbar. No other pages exist on the page, but if I am to, say, input ?q=admin, on user/1, it will go 'Access Denied'

What I've done:

3 days of Googling and reading "Drupal7 Multi-site configuration" book by Matt Butcher has left me confused as to how to create a multi-site where the "sub" sites are in sub-directories.
Any guidance on what I am doing wrong here would be greatly appreciated!

Hallo, I'm a newbe in Drupal land and quite novice in website building.

I want to build a newspaper and thought that Nodestream would be nice to start with, cause it is mentioned that it has allready newspaper themes installed. The difficult part is that is does not have much support and on www.nodestream.org I don't understand much of what is written there.

I get the following errors when trying to make a first page for the newspaper:

I am trying to install drupal via ms Web matrix. Everything is fine until it gets to the configure site bit. After selecting the button on this screen I just get an error 500. I can't find the problem here at all.
