Installing Drupal

I just got done going through the install procedure, and I can't register. I click register, the page refreshes...I click anything, the page refreshes...

Dear drupal gurus,

Is there way to set up a 'view level' to a blog, book page, or static page, so only certain registered users or group of users can see this blog/page?

I appreciate your answer.

I am not having much luck with my crontab. Does anything look obviously wrong that I've done:

- the crontab file:

00 * * * * /htdocs/www/drupal/scripts/cron-lynx

- the cron-lynx.sh file (this file is chmod 700):

#!/bin/sh
/usr/bin/lynx -source http://www.biptron.com/drupal/cron.php > /dev/null 2>&1

- the cron.php file:

I'm installing drupal on my hosted (shared) server and my provider are saying:

"Could you clarify specifically which privileges you require - we don't customarily supply all privileges on a database."

Any help much appreciated.

I am trying to get drupal setup and running. Modules and the like are no problem, but SQL server costs more, and I would rather just directly connect drupal to a drupal databse for user and post managment. If anyone has, or is working on this, I would appreciate a little help on the topic.

Dear drupal gurus, I'm wondering if drupal will allow me to have a way of creating accounts for friends to use so they can submit news articles, forum posts and pictures and have their names appear after each news article or forum post or picture

i.e. I have friend called Ben who has pic of us surfing and he is able to post picture up (and every1 discuss it/make comments on it) using an account that has been requested by Ben with details put into form and then submitted to me to approve after reviewing submitted details?
