Installing Drupal

I'm trying to set up Drupal, and it's going great except for one thing: I have no SMTP server that is accessible to php. I was wondering where to get one, or how to bypass this. Thanks in advance.

I feel very stupid having to ask for help, i've managed to get scripts going with much worse installation instructions before, but i'm not getting anywhere with this one....
The exact error is:

Parse error: parse error, expecting `T_STRING' or `T_VARIABLE' or `'$'' in includes/theme.inc on line 119

I'm getting this directly after i've installed drupal (first time installation) when I start up drupal for the first time, after i've created the database and tables and edited conf.php.

Hey, drupal looks amazing. I can't wait to get my greasy gubbins on the admin script. :)

One small thing ..

I've been using other CMS lately and they all use a slightly differnet format for setting up the msql url/hostname/dbuser/dbpass. Looks something like this:

$pnconfig['dbtype'] = 'mysql';
$pnconfig['dbhost'] = 'localhost';
$pnconfig['dbuname'] = 'cm9vdA==';
$pnconfig['dbpass'] = 'WHRhc3k2NTY0';
$pnconfig['dbname'] = 'Rogue';
$pnconfig['system'] = '0';
$pnconfig['prefix'] = 'nuke';
$pnconfig['encoded'] = '1';
