The module works with MailChimp 3.x, just download the dev version of 7.x-2.x.

They should mention that on the project page.

Ok. Though I do not quite see how the referenced commit will make it support the 3.x version?

Just letting you know that there's MailChimp 3.x support if you use the dev version of "Webform Mailchimp".
