The Views Slideshow: Galleria module does not function unless the version of JQuery is updated to version 1.3.x or better. A user new to Views Slideshow: Galleria, like myself, may spend a significant amount of time trying to figure out why the module is not working.

For this reason, I'm reporting that Views Slideshow: Galleria needs to be updated to depend on the jquery_update module and display a message to the user if they're not using the correct version of JQuery. This will make it clear to users what they must do to get the module working on a new site.

I've set the priority of this issue to "critical" because a user trying to install this on a simple / clean site will find that the module doesn't work.

I've created a patch to make this module depend on jquery_update; but it doesn't enforce that the user is running a version of JQuery which is compatible with Galleria. Hence, I'm marking this as "needs work".

committed this per #853204: Galleria 1.2 needs JQuery 1.3 or better; Drupal 6 comes with JQuery 1.2; sorry, i didn't see this patch before so didn't properly credit you, @mparker17. marking this issue as a duplicate of that one, where we can sort out other requirements & watch jquery update's #685060: Get ready for 1.4.

thanks!
