I've tested this with on a newly created view with entity > relation > endpoint. It seems to work but definitely needs more testing.

Swapped one instance of users for users_field_data in the mentioned hook. Apart from that, relation entity doesn't provide a field data table that we could use in views data. Is there anything else that I am missing?
