I tried using the Related Links module but I am using the Similar by Terms module in preference as my content is ordered by taxonomy so it shows the related content links automatically. However the link defaults to the node title.
I have 100s of pages of content, grouped by 10 - 15 pages that are closely related, and I was manually adding the urls because I wanted to rename the links for the menus for consistency and also to shorten some really long node titles. But for each page I found myself having to manually add the 10 - 15 links and link names for the related nodes within the same category, so I gave up.

What would be nice to see with the Related Links module is, on the content creating page, a way to give the node a title for the related link (defaults to the node title if none added) and to have a box of all the content within that category to select from, each already having their own link name already created. Then an option to automatically add the new node to the selected related content's related links would save having to revisit the other nodes to add the new content to their related links list.

I think that you might have had better luck tweaking the settings for Discovered links and also playing with the search module and search keywords feature.
