I did a lot of reading, so I hope this isn't an ignorant post...

I copied my example.com drupal site to a subdirectory (example.com/dev) and it mostly works fine. BUT, when I upload an image, I get this error:

"ImageMagick reported an error: /usr/bin/convert: Unable to open file (sites/default/files/yourName/yourImage.JPG) [No such file or directory]." Yet it works just fine at example.com.

In settings.php, I set the baseurl to be example.com/dev, but the problem persists. In Admin > Site configuration > File system, I tried to change the file system path to dev/sites/default/files, but it said that directory didn't exist. I changed permissions to 777 for most of the directories involved, just to make sure it wasn't a permissions thing.

I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

its not because of the subdirectory. i use this and it is working. must be something else

The File system path is always (exept when using private files) from the drupal root without subdirectorys that its located in.
