Imagecache + Drupal 5.11/12 Not Working? [#321714]

I installed Imagecache under Drupal 5.11, and created a preset as per the readme.txt file. Images I upload do not seem to change to match the preset (a crop of 100x100 with a center on x and y axis).

1) While the imagecache directory is made under files, no subdirectories (like for the preset) appear.

2) The image just seems to follow the settings under the Image module.

I am having a similar problem. ImageCache 2.1 was working great for me until I upgraded Drupal 5.10 to 5.11. Now, no newly uploaded images are getting 'imagecached'. I checked permissions, image toolkit, etc but nothing works.

The image shows up fine when imagecache is disregarded (e.g. places where the imagecache theme function is not called). If I delete a previously cached file, ImageCache has no problem recreating it. If I "flush" any of imagecache's presets, all of the old images get re-created, but none of the images uploaded post-5.11.

I don't think imagecache is "trying and failing" to create a thumbnail, because it doesn't seem to be returning that there exists an image at all, while deleting a cached image leaves a blank image placeholder in the browser until it gets recreated.

EDIT: Try Drupal 5.12 and see if it works. I thought it did for me but I'm not so sure anymore.

This is really stumping me. If I delete an image from an older node and then upload one of the images that is not working from a newer node, it works fine. It seems as if only the new nodes, created since the upgrade to 5.11 (and subsequently 5.12) do not ask for an imagecache'd image. ImageCache 2.2 does not seem to change anything either.
