Flashpoint Education is a set of modules that creates an online education website. It provides the base entities, bundles, and fields needed, along with some "kickstart" features to enable rapid development of an e-learning platform.

The Learning Community

Flashpoint Education is built on the concept of the "learning community," in which one or more teachers may deliver courses in both an online context, and through local meetings. Flashpoint may be as simple as one online school, or may form a network of learning communities that create and share courses both in-community, and with each other.

Courses

  • Courses are structured as a set of course content, which can be stored in course modules. Course modules contain course content with learning and examination material.
  • Course content types include files, HTML Pages, Media, H5P content, and webforms.
  • An LRS based on Spectra Analytics will be provided for tracking pass status per user.
  • A course administrator may configure access such that users must complete instructional items before taking an exam, or one module before another, and so on.
  • Course content may also have status icons and classes, which are configurable per content type.

Communities

Authorized users may also set up Communities, which may contain a set of courses, and also permit communication between members of the community, or between community members and instructors.

Access

Courses and communities are set up as groups as defined in the Group module, with access being granted in the form of memberships. Also, courses have "view" and "preview" access methods, that allow users (including anonymous) to bypass normal enrollment rules when determining access. This allows you, for example, to allow people to see a course after giving an email or filling out a webform.
