Call to undefined function db_truncate() on update

I uninstalled and deleted the previous version of Fast Gallery, uploaded the most current dev version (6.x-5.0-alpha1).

Enabled the module and did a call to update.php and consistently get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function db_truncate() in /home/(removed)/public_html/sites/all/modules/fast_gallery/fast_gallery.module on line 267
