Ryze is doing it, upcoming.org is doing it, meetups.com invented it and it just seems to fit with the whole community plumbing theme of drupal: What about events that allow users to 'subscribe' to them so the event page can show who's going and who's just thinking of going?

I think that this is a good idea but should be implemented in a separate module.

I added this feature to the event.module on our site. (I agree that it should go in a separate module, but I needed the feature immediately ;-)).

You can get the changed files here (Drupal 4.3.2):

Title: Who's going? » signup module supports who's going

I have written a signup module which supports signing up for events. So far, I have only used it on drupal-4.3.2 under PostgreSQL. I installed it on my web site yesterday, so only a few people have used it. One other warning--it's my first module.

It allows users to sign up for events, and allows users to get a list of everyone who has signed up for an event, with separate permissions for both of these features. You can limit the list of people signed up to any arbitrary role. A user can also add an arbitrary comment to the signup list. Perhaps "I'm bringing 5 friends", "I have reserved a campsite", or "I'm bringing dessert".

I don't have a CVS version of this module yet. I'm waiting for a CVS account. signup is available at:

http://www.alacosta.org/kelphead/signup/.

Please try it and tell me what you think.

Any guesses as to what it would take to bring this module up to 4.4? I looked at the module code (about 150 lines, that's all) and at Converting 4.3 modules to 4.4, but unfortunately I need to get through "PHP 101" first.

I'm working on 4.4 and hope to have it soon, let's hope by tomorrow.

signup-4.4 is available from

I have a sample web site available. See what signup looks like.

A CVS tree is also available.

This is a simple follow up to point out similar requests for a "signup" or "rsvp" module to handle this functionality. I'm only documenting the other stuff I know about here.

I'll be looking at backporting the 4.3.2 version module to 4.2.0 (one of my websites), and porting the 4.4 version forward to the 4.5.2 version (others of my websites). God I hate how the constantly muck with the modules just because they can...

RSVP request from myself sometime ago:

Event Registration module:

The RSVP or other modules should handle this. Closing as a feature request on Event.

What other modules permit someone to signup for an event? For the modules listed in the download section, only the RSVP module, but it's brain damaged for a user to have to send himself an invite via the RSVP module to signup for an event. If the module at http://www.alacosta.org/kelphead/signup/ should be used, then this issue should be kept open until that module is added to the drupal.org downloads.

So I therefore, respectfully, disagree with the closing of this issue. The Event module needs a way for users to signup for an event. That's just basic functionality.

The "Event Registration module" link posted above (http://drupal.org/node/16421) points to a discussion that doesn't cover how to signup for an event (ie. without an invitation first being sent).

I finally checked in the updated signup modules listed above, available at http://www.kelphead.org/signup, which works for 4.5. I requested a module name over a year ago and never received a response back.
