Sometimes I need to create reference field that can reference not only to one entity type, but for many types. For example - reference to commerce_product and node entities. But now in Entity reference field I can select only one entity type.

Will be good to add an option for expose entity type selection into field edit form. So in field settings I can select multiple entity types that will be available, and user select type that he want.

This info can be stored in two fields, target_entity_type & target_id instead of current target_id only.

If this functional is already exists in this or other module, please describe this, if not - will be good to see this feature in future versions.

This functionality would be extremely useful. Especially for things like featured sliders or other call to action components.
eg. Being able to create a slider that links to a featured product, as well as a term page for a product type.

Precisely what I need. I want the applicants on my site to choose from a list of organizations (reference to user entity if the organization has a user account on my site or plain text in case the organization is not registered on the site)
