Open meeting

heddn what are the priorities w/ 8.8 alpha around the corner?
quietone What do you suggest?
heddn multilingual
quietone I reckon that is enough. There is lots of testing and review to do. But should anything else be looked at?

multilingual

webchick Would love to know where stabilizing multilingual migrations are at.
quietone The meta is still up-to-date. https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/2208401
quietone Node revision translation is passing tests. I should be able to get entity translation revisions passing tests today as well.
webchick Amazing!!
heddn @quietone+1000
quietone And depending on what family plans are this weekend I have decided to work on i18n menu, which is a 'could have' in the meta and the last remaining issue in the i18n family.
quietone @heddn, thx.
quietone But it is really mikelutz who should get the credit. He wrote the whole node master migration approach.
quietone @mikelutz+1000
mikelutz Ha, I left you all the problems to solve though. I just did the easy part.
webchick And what anyone here/in general could do to help.
quietone Reviews and testing. https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/2746541 is now passing tests.
webchick Exciting!
webchick Is that the last issue?
webchick (Sorry, saw the previous thread; no it is not :))
webchick @quietone so would this be accurate to say/tweet?“We’re down to THREE blockers for a stable multilingual migration. This one for node revisions is now passing tests and could use some “real world” testing by multilingual D7 users.
quietone There as some small issues that were made because of the node revision translation and they need to go in first.
webchick Ah ok. Those are not in the issue summary at https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/2208401 (or do not seem to be)
webchick Is there a better “call to action” I could say?
quietone They are https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/3087061
https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/3082719
https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/3086238
quietone No, never got around to adding them there
webchick Ok, thanks. Following those all ow.
webchick now*
quietone But yes, they should be on the meta. I can do that sometime today.
webchick Ok cool. Not a huge deal, just easier to follow that way for folks (like me) folliwing only the “big” issues. :slightly_smiling_face:
kevinquillen Sorry afk, navigating Boston traffic
webchick I do NOT envy you, friend
kevinquillen Every day at 4 pm, the entire state pours out onto the cities 3 roads.
webchick So pulling this into the “main” channel… alpha deadline is tomorrow. Beta is first week of November. DrupalCon is between then and now. What’s the best way for people to help you all?
webchick e.g. are there sprints to promote?
webchick issues that need testing?
webchick bugs that need squashing?
webchick I’m happy to tweet something out to try and get more eyeballs, but need someone who knows things to write up what that is  (edited)
quietone I've updated the Meta, so all the issues are in one place
webchick Yay thanks!!
quietone Lots of eyeballs, yes. The node translation revision and entity translation revision, need review and testing. the review also needs to carefully consider BC. there are points in the IS about that.
quietone @webchick, do you have enough to work with?
webchick Ok, how about:“One of our goals for #Drupal 8.8 is to stabilize the multilingual migration path and we need YOUR help! Real-world testing of node revisions (URL) and entities (URL) would be very appreciated!” (edited)
quietone Yes, but wait on the entities one until it is passing tests. Which should be today. Cross fingers, knock on wood etc
webchick Ok, how about I do NOTHING then for right now, and we can reconvene later :slightly_smiling_face:
quietone OK, I will ping you when entities is passing tests.

deprecation

mikelutz We missed deprecating d6 migrations. They will have to stay in until D10 Nick Wilde really... I think it is probably a net positive
mikelutz Not for those of us who have to maintain them. :-p

#3086373: Build test framework cleanup: bootstrap and tests, #3085728: Add access rules for build tests

heddn @webchick https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/3086373 would be nice to land (for other reasons)
webchick OK sweet. I can queue that up for when we’re out of commit freeze (9.0.x branching is being done atm)
heddn @webchick in similar vein:
webchick Cool, are build tests the thig that’s “real update tests”?
heddn these will let me remove 2 core patches from drupalci.yml for automatic_updates.module
webchick I have never heard of this word and suddenly heard it like 3 times in the past hour
webchick s/word/term/
heddn builds tests are the real deal w/ update testing
webchick Ok rock!
heddn https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/3082230 isn't ready, but shows some great examples

Closing

quietone And a shout to mikelutz for staying up late last night to fix a problem with the new migrate lookup service.
@mikelutz++
quietone Just a few minutes left. What do you want to add?
Closing meeting now.
Thanks all.
