[meeting] Migrate Meeting 2019-10-10 [#3088713]

Hello all, it’s time for the weekly migration initiative meeting. The meeting will take place in slack in various threads

This meeting:
➤ Is for core migrate maintainers and developers and anybody else in the community with an interest in migrations
➤ Usually happens every Thursday and alternates between 1400 and 2100 UTC.
➤ Is done over chat.
➤ Happens in threads, which you can follow to be notified of new replies even if you don’t comment in the thread. You may also join the meeting later and participate asynchronously!
➤ Has a public agenda anyone can add to here.
➤*Transcript will be exported and posted* to the agenda issue. For anonymous comments, start with a :bust_in_silhouette: emoji. To take a comment or thread off the record, start with a :no_entry_sign: emoji.

heddn	what are the priorities w/ 8.8 alpha around the corner?
quietone	What do you suggest?
heddn	multilingual
quietone	I reckon that is enough. There is lots of testing and review to do. But should anything else be looked at?

webchick	Would love to know where stabilizing multilingual migrations are at.

quietone	Node revision translation is passing tests. I should be able to get entity translation revisions passing tests today as well.

quietone	And depending on what family plans are this weekend I have decided to work on i18n menu, which is a 'could have' in the meta and the last remaining issue in the i18n family.

quietone	But it is really mikelutz who should get the credit. He wrote the whole node master migration approach.

webchick	@quietone so would this be accurate to say/tweet?“We’re down to THREE blockers for a stable multilingual migration. This one for node revisions is now passing tests and could use some “real world” testing by multilingual D7 users.
quietone	There as some small issues that were made because of the node revision translation and they need to go in first.
webchick	Ah ok. Those are not in the issue summary at https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/2208401 (or do not seem to be)

webchick	So pulling this into the “main” channel… alpha deadline is tomorrow. Beta is first week of November. DrupalCon is between then and now. What’s the best way for people to help you all?
webchick	e.g. are there sprints to promote?
webchick	issues that need testing?
webchick	bugs that need squashing?

quietone	Lots of eyeballs, yes. The node translation revision and entity translation revision, need review and testing. the review also needs to carefully consider BC. there are points in the IS about that.
quietone	@webchick, do you have enough to work with?
webchick	Ok, how about:“One of our goals for #Drupal 8.8 is to stabilize the multilingual migration path and we need YOUR help! Real-world testing of node revisions (URL) and entities (URL) would be very appreciated!” (edited)
quietone	Yes, but wait on the entities one until it is passing tests. Which should be today. Cross fingers, knock on wood etc
webchick	Ok, how about I do NOTHING then for right now, and we can reconvene later :slightly_smiling_face:

deprecation

mikelutz	We missed deprecating d6 migrations. They will have to stay in until D10	Nick Wilde	really... I think it is probably a net positive
mikelutz	Not for those of us who have to maintain them. :-p

webchick	OK sweet. I can queue that up for when we’re out of commit freeze (9.0.x branching is being done atm)

heddn	these will let me remove 2 core patches from drupalci.yml for automatic_updates.module
webchick	I have never heard of this word and suddenly heard it like 3 times in the past hour
