I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about -- please include more details on how to reproduce your problem.

Meanwhile, moving to a better component.

On the first request to this URL,
http://d8.foo.com/system/files/styles/thumbnail/private/iprop_photos/5/2...

the thumbnail style of the image is displayed.. however on subsequent requests the "original".. full size version is displayed.

the only way I have found to view the thumbnail again via the URL is delete the thumbnail image from the directory and let it get regenerated.

Here is the code behind it,

$file = File::load($fid);
$thumb = ImageStyle::load('thumbnail')->buildUrl($file->getFileUri());

result of above code is $thumb = http://d8.foo.com/system/files/styles/thumbnail/private/iprop_photos/5/2...

My temporary fix is to delete thumbnail before regeneration... the large fullsize image files were impacting page load times,

file_unmanaged_delete('private://styles/thumbnail/private/iprop_photos/5/2016-01/' . $file->getFilename());

I would still like to figure out why the fullsize image is loaded 2nd,3rd,etc. request to the url generated for the thumbnail. thanks

Any ideas on how to solve this issue without the work around above...? Thanks

I don't understand the issue being reported here. If you are still having this issue please update the issue summary with steps to reproduce and set the issue back to Active.

Version: 10.1.x-dev » 11.x-dev

Drupal core is moving towards using a “main” branch. As an interim step, a new 11.x branch has been opened, as Drupal.org infrastructure cannot currently fully support a branch named main. New developments and disruptive changes should now be targeted for the 11.x branch, which currently accepts only minor-version allowed changes. For more information, see the Drupal core minor version schedule and the Allowed changes during the Drupal core release cycle.
