flushing all caches and flushing the views cache gives no better result.
as it's my first serious testrun with d7 i'm unable to judge wether it's my fault or a bug.
if the latter is true, obviously there's a serious communication problem between views and ctools...
any clues appreciated

javizcaino commentedIt also happens to me... seeking in directory ctools/includes there is no "fields.inc" file, so it seems as if the file has not been include in the package...
Any solution?

This is on a clean, local, wamp installation of the latest D7 core.

sammyman commentedI am getting these same errors as well. Subscribing. I can't add some fields in Views because of this.

sammyman commentedThis is the error that I am seeing when trying to add a field in Views:

sammyman commentedI added the fields.inc file from a previous version of ctools and then I get a bigger error:

johnvI had the same 'fields.inc' error with D7-RC2 and Ctools-7.x-1.0-alpha1.
I also had the problem of Integer-fields being blank in my view. I thought the 2nd error/symptom was created by the first error.
So I upgraded to CTools version 7.x-1.x-dev of 2010-Nov-11, which contains field.inc, and the first error no longer appears.
However, the second problems still persists.
Guys, is your problem solved with the new dev-release?
sammyman commentedThis was solved for me with the new dev drupal release today.
aidanlis commentedNot solved for me ... I'm not using image fields, just plain text fields.
aka006 commentedI also get the same error using the dev version of drupal when trying to add a link field.
mgiffordUsing the dev version seemed to work for me. I cleared the cache before hand too.
jwilson3I updated to latest dev of ctools, and have latest 7.x-3.0-dev of views. And I can confirm that the first error (ctools related) went away, but now we have the second error mentioned in #5, which seems to be rather a Views related error. Here are the steps to reproduce:
Create a view, with base table of 'Node'.
Add the Body field, to the list of fields.
Click "Update" button associated with the field editing sub-form.
The error is:
The query executed was:
I was able to get the error to go away with a couple small modifications in the views module's file: modules/field.views.inc

Thanks jrguitar21 for your patch. The second error does not longer appear.
However, I can't list custom fields that I defined for my users using views. For example, I created a field "Pet name" which now appears empty. I can list "core" fields like username thou...
I see in your patch that you removed: array('field' => 'entity_type', 'value' => $entity),
Does this has to do with the custom fields?
aidanlis commentedYes, looks like this is fixed in the latest -dev release. I've updated the issue title and am marking as fixed.
RE: #5 / #13 ... I think this is a totally different problem, would you guys mind creating a separate issue for it?
bojanz commentedThere's no problem.
The dev versions of Views and Ctools require at least Drupal 7 RC3 (or a recent -dev).
RC2 doesn't work.
eclipsegc commentedClosing this so I don't keep looking at it.
jwilson3Confirming that the update to drupal-7.0-rc3 along with latest views-7.x-3.x-dev no longer exhibits the issue reported and patched in #13. I wont be reporting that in a separate ticket.
