See Drupal AI at work on a realistic university website, then open it up and see how it's built.
Launch the demo at drupal.org/ai/demo
This project is the public home for the Drupal AI Demo. Use its issue queue to report bugs, suggest new features, improve the feature explanations and ask questions.
What is the Drupal AI Demo?
The demo is a website for Northmoor University, a fictional coastal university. It runs on Drupal CMS with the Drupal AI modules and realistic content: programs, news, events, people and images.
You can launch your own copy for free. It is ready to use and needs no installation, no configuration and no credit card. Each copy runs for 30 days.

What you can try
- AI search: ask questions in natural language and get answers with sources.
- Page generation: describe a page and let AI build it in Drupal Canvas.
- Content review: get suggestions to improve draft content before it is published.
- Content classification: tag content with the right taxonomy terms automatically.
- Translation: translate content and manage the translations.
- Image validation: check uploaded images with object detection.
- Image generation and alt text: create images and write alt text for them.
- AI disclosure: label content that was created with AI.
- Observability: follow the performance and cost of every AI call.
- MCP server: connect external AI tools to the site's content.
Every feature has a step-by-step page under AI Features in the demo.
Look under the hood
You get full administrator access to your copy of the demo. Every agent, prompt, recipe setting, index and view is visible in the Drupal admin interface. Use the demo to:
- learn how a feature is configured,
- try changes to prompts and settings, and
- rebuild a feature on your own site.
Many features are available as public recipes on Drupal.org that work on any Drupal site, for example AI Answers, AI Image Alt Text, AI Content Classification and AI SEO Optimizer.
Who has access to what
| What | Who |
|---|---|
| The running demo, including admin login and all configuration | Everyone |
The Drupal AI modules and the public ai_recipe_* recipes |
Everyone, on Drupal.org |
| This issue queue | Everyone with a Drupal.org account |
| The demo build: university content, theme, demo-specific recipes, build scripts and deployment | Drupal AI Partners, in the private GitLab group drupal-infrastructure/ai |
All code in the demo is open source. The demo itself is built, maintained and funded by the Drupal AI Partners, which is why the build repositories are open to partners only. This repository holds no demo code. It holds this page and the issue queue.
Using the issue queue
Search the existing issues first, then open a new issue with the template that fits:
| Template | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Bug report | Something in the demo is broken or behaves unexpectedly. |
| Feature request | An AI feature the demo should show, or an improvement to an existing one. |
| Feature page | A feature explanation in the demo is missing, unclear or out of date. |
| Support request | You have a question about the demo or how a feature is built. |
| Task | A concrete piece of work with clear acceptance criteria. |
| Plan | A larger change that needs discussion before work starts. |
If a bug or a task is in a Drupal AI module itself and not in the demo, report it in that module's issue queue, for example AI or AI Agents, and link it here.
How issues get worked on
The Drupal AI Partners triage the queue and build the fixes and new features. Everyone is welcome to comment, test, propose text for feature pages and review changes. Fixes become visible the next time you launch a new copy of the demo.
Sponsored by the Drupal AI Partners
The Drupal AI Demo is built and sponsored by the Drupal AI Partners, companies that contribute funding and dedicated people to the Drupal AI Initiative. AI infrastructure is provided by amazee.ai, and demo instances run on Drupal Forge.
