I've thought a bit about how the menus work in Drupal. Coming from Joomla I also remember that it was more intuitive there. So i tryed to make some faked Screenshots how i think the Drupal Menu Administration could be a little bit more easy/intuitive.
The idea behind it is:
In Drupal you create Content first, then you get the URL and then you add the URL to the Menus. I think for new Users or Users migrating from Joomla etc. it would be nice, to have the ability to browse/create Content etc. Also it would be nice to be able to edit the target site directly from the menu.

This is just a suggestion, i guess its far to late for Drupal 7. But maybe this is something for a contrib module or to think about for Drupal 8

smustgrave CreditAttribution: smustgrave at Mobomo commentedClosing this out as there hasn't been movement in 13 years. The menu has most likely changed significantly since this and there is a current initaitive to update the admin_ui too.
If still a feature request please reopen explaining in the issue summary how this is different.
