how to remove post from front page

I want eliminate all posts from node/main page. Ultimately I just want to show recent posts, but in administer -> settings -> post, the lowest number of posts i could show is 1. perhaps im approaching from the wrong way? again all i want to do is show the "recent posts" block, not full blog posts or content posts.

You need to remove the "Promoted to Front Page" property for the articles that you don't want to show.

To do this, edit the article, then expand the "Publishing Options" section. You will most likely see that it is both "Published" and "Promoted to front page".

Remove the promoted to front page, and it should disappear.

Oh, and if you have heaps of articles, you can do this in a batch from the admin->content section.

if 0 articles promoted to front page (and all the rest are "published"), i get the "Welcome to your new Drupal website!" any way to get rid of this message?
